Patna : World No 1 and top seed Kento Momota, 24, Japan, retained his World Championships title crushing World No 9 Anders Antonsen, 22, Denmark, in a one sided final of BWF World Championships at Basel, Switzerland, on August 25, 2019, evening.

Momota, who had won the 2018 World Championships title at Nanjing, China, destroyed  5th seed Antonsen 21-9, 21-3 in 37 minutes in the final at St Jakobshalle, Basel, to win his 27th career title. Defending champion Momota won 42 rallies in the match to just 12 by Antonsen. He won 9 consecutive points in the match to 3 by the Dane. Momota now leads Antonsen 4-1 Head to Head.

The winner of BWF World Championships gets 13,000 points while the runner-up gets 11,000 points. The semi-finalists including B Sai Praneeth got 9,200 points each.
