Patna : World No 8 Kidambi Srikanth, 26, India, lost to World No 1 and reigning World Champion Kento Momota, 24, Japan, in straight games in the men’s singles quarter-finals of Yonex All England Badminton Championships at Arena Birmingham, England, on March 8, 2019, night.

Momota beat Srikanth 21-12, 21-16 in 44 minutes in the quarter-finals to sail into the semi-finals of the tournament. Momota won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Srikanth. He won 9 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Srikanth. Momota now leads Srikanth 11-3 head to head.

World No 2 Shi Yuqi, 23, China, beat World No 17 Kenta Tsuneyama, 22, Japan, 21-14, 21-7 in 37 minutes in the quarter-finals to enter the SFs. Yuqi now leads Tsuneyama 4-0 head to head.
