Patna : World No 1 Kento Momota, 25, Japan, beat World No 6 and Asian Games Champion Jonatan Christie, 22, Indonesia, in straight games 21-14, 21-14 in his third Group A match at HSBC BWF World Tour Finals at Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China, December 13, 2019. With this two-time World Champion Momota has won all of his three Group Stage match and qualified for the semi-finals.

Momota won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Christie. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 3 by the Indonesian also known as ‘Jojo’. Momota now leads Christie 4-1 Head to Head.

World No 3 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, beat World No 19 Wang Tzu Wei, Chinese Taipei, in a three-game thriller 23-21, 12-21, 21-12 in 82 minutes in their Group A match while reigning Olympic champion and World No 4 Chen Long, China, beat World No 4 Chou Tien Chen, Chinese Taipei, 21-15, 21-19 in 52 minutes in their Group B match.

World No 8 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Indonesia, also won after his opponent and 2017 World Champion Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, retired in first game due to injury in their Group B match. Ginting has qualified for SFs.
