Patna : World No 1 and two-times World Champion Kento Momota, 25, Japan, beat World No 8 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 23, Indonesia, in the final to win the season finale HSBC BWF World Tour Finals trophy at Guangzhou, China, on December 15, 2019. It was Momota’s 32nd career title and 11th in 2019. Momota secured 12,000 BWF rankings points plus USD 1,20,000 cash prize money. Ginting got 10,200 BWF rankings points and USD 60,000 prize money.

Momota edged past Ginting 17-21, 21-17, 21-14 in 87 minutes in the final rallying back from one game down at Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China. Momota won 59 rallies in the match to 52 by the Indonesian. He won 7 consecutive points in the match to 8 by Ginting. The second game alone lasted 32 minutes. Momota now leads Ginting 11-4 Head to Head.
