Patna : Top seed an  reigning World Champion Kento Momota, Japan, and World No 6 Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, advanced to the quarter-finals of Fuzhou China Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event, at Fuzhou, China, on November 7, 2019.

World No 1 Momota entered the QFs after his second round opponent and World No 14 Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia,  retired due to injury in the second game trailing 9-21, 3-11.

Axelsen, a former World No 1, beat World No 25 Parupalli Kashyap, India, 21-13, 21-19 in 43 minutes in second round to enter the QFs. Axelsen won 42 rallies in the match to 32 by Kashyap. He won 6 consecutive points in the match to 5 by the Indian. The two players are now locked 2-2 Head to Head.
