The winner will get 9,000 points while the runner-up will get 7,800 points. Momota has won 32 career titles while Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, has won 17 career title.
Top seed Kento Momota, Japan, beat World No 14 Lee Zii Jia, 21, Malaysia, 21-10, 21-19 in 43 minutes in semi-finals at Axiata Arena, Kualalumpur, on January 11. Momota won 42 rallies in the match to 29 by Lee. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Malaysian. Momota now leads Lee 6-0 Head to Head.
Fifth seed Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, beat World No 9 N G Ka Long Angus, 25, Hong Kong, 21-14, 21-18 in 44 minutes in semi-finals on January 11. Axelsen won 42 rallies in the match to 32 by Angus. He won 7 consecutive points during the match to 5 by Angus. Axelsen now leads Angus 9-0 Head to Head.
