Mob thrashes 2-Members of UP De-addition Centre in Bagaha

Bagaha : Two of the four-members of a De-addiction Centre  at Gorakhpur, UP, were thrashed by a mob at  “G” type Gandak Project Colony, Valmikinagar under the same police station in West Champaran District, on September 8, 2019, suspecting them to be child lifters.

Local sources said that four members of a De -addiction Centre,  Gorakhpur,  had gone there to take Satyendra Kumar  alias Raju to the De- addiction centre, who had reportedly  escaped from the centre and  was living with his wife Maya Devi and used to beat her and children. Meanwhile, a rumour spread like wild fire that child lifters were trying to lift a  child of Maya Devi. Suddenly, a mob gathered there and started  beating them on the suspicion of there being child lifters and damaged their four- wheeler. Two members of the centre Arun Kumar  Singh and Ashis Kumar  Shukla sustained serious injuries. However, Atul Shukla and Sumati  Singh escaped  unhurt.

On getting information, SHO, Valmikinagar police station, Jaiprakash Singh with police force reached the spot and rescued them. Maya Devi, wife of Satyendra  Kumar  alias Raju, has lodged a case (60/2019) in this connection with  Valmikinagar police station making 25 persons accused, SHO, Valmikinagar  PS Jaiyprakash Singh said and added that police investigation into the incident was on.

Earlier, one such case was lodged from Olinagar  village with Chautarawa police station in the district on September 6, 2019,  where a strong mob of villagers had thrashed one Gopal Gond of Basawaria locality under Bettiah Nagar Parishad. Gopal Gond had gone to his maternal uncle’s house at Patilar. The  villagers suspecting him to be a  child lifter thrashed him. Gopal Gond   lodged the case with  Chautarawa police station.
