Bokaro (Jharkhand) : Stressing on the importance of the role of media in contemporary political scenario of the country, senior journalists besides educationists and bureaucrats on March 15, 2020, insisted that despite the stiff challenge, the Indian media is still playing the role of an ‘alert ombudsman’ and is regarded as the most ‘reliable’ providing correct, exhaustive, and inside reports. They expressed their opinion at a symposium at the annual meeting of 54 year old Mithila Sanskritik Parishad (MSP) held at Mithila Academy Public School, Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand. The topic of symposium was ‘Desh Ki Vartman Paripekshya Me Media Ki Bhumika’.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest and President of the organization Kumud Kumar Thakur, CGM, Bokaro Steel Plant, and Harimahoan Jha, GM, Bokaro Steel Plant, stated that Indian media closely observes functioning of Legislatiure, Executive, and Judiciary, which is very important for healthy democracy.
Exhorting the journalists to remain alert in view of challenges posed by the social media, senior journalist Ajay Ashk urged the media- persons to be honest to their profession. Other journalists including Abhay Mishra Gautam, Akshya Kumar, Dhananjay Pratap, Vikas Maharaj, Arvind Sharma, and Arun Pathak referred to big technological challenges coming in the way of journalists and asked the journalists to keep themselves updated and remain sincere as the profession is becoming more risky.
Highlighting the works of the MSP which has been working on the social issues for the last five decades, Senior Executive Director, Mithila Sanskritik Parishad, Sunil Mohan Thakur, asked the media to be more positive and play a constructive role. Senior journalist Vijay Kumar Jha introduced the guests and over two dozen journalists who were later honoured with Vidyapati Samman’. They included all the prominent journalists and photographers besides other guests. Secretary, MSP, Rajendra Kumar, proposed vote of thanks.
