Buxar : A middleage man committed suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling fan of his room at his house in Sonarpatti locality under Dumraon police station (PS) in Buxar District in South Bihar on June 28, 2021, evening, due to financial reasons.
The deceased was identified as Santosh Sharma, 45, son of late Ganesh Prasad of Sonarpatti. He was a goldsmith and was facing financial crisis due to lockdown in the wake of Covid pandemic for the last 16 months. He was unable to get two square meal for his family members and so had sent them to his in-laws’ place. Police are investigating the matter after lodging an FIR in this connection.
SHO, Dumraon PS, Biteshwar Ram said that Santosh Sharma lived at Sonarpatti and earned his livelihood working at a jewellery shop there. He lost his mother three years ago and his son in a road accident and was under depression since then. Meanwhile, during the lockdown due to Ccvid, he lost his job that added to his woes.
The SHO said that Santosh Sharma went to his room to sleep after taking breakfast on June 28, 2021, morning, and did not come out of the room.His nephew Sonu Sharma went to call him for lunch but he did not respond. The family members then broke open the door of his room in the presence of villagers and found Santosh Sharma hanging to the ceiling fan of his room. They rushed him to the Sub-divisional hospital but the doctor declared him brought dead. Police brought the body over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
