Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) thumped Delhi Capitals (DC) by a massive 57 runs in IPL 2020 Qualifier 1 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, UAE, on November 5, 2020, late night, with fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult taking 4/14 and 2/9 respectively. Four-time champion MI have reached the IPL final for the 6th time. Bumrah was named Player Of The Match.
Replying to MI’s 200/5 in 20 overs, DC could score only 143/8 in 20 overs with all-rounder Marcus Stoinis scoring 65 in 46 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes and spinner Axar Patel scoring 42 in 33 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Four DC batsmen : opener Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, and all-rounder Daniel Sams, were out for a duck while Rishabh pant (wk) scored 3 runs. DC captain Shreyas Iyer scored 12 runs. Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada remained 15 not out. DC had won the toss and opted to bowl.
Batting first, MI lost their 1st wicket at 16 when captain Rohit Sharma fell to spinner Ravichandra n Ashwin for zero. Opener Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav played aggressive knock adding 62 runs for the 2nd wicket. Kock also fell to Ashwin for 40 in 25 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. Suryakumar Yadav fell to fast bowler Anrich Nortje for 51 in 38 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes and it was 100/3. All-rounder Kieron Pollard fell to Ashwin for zero and it was 101/4. All-rounder Krunal Pandya fell to Marcus Stoinis for 13 hitting a six and it was 140/5. Ishan Kishan and all-rounder hardik Pandya added 60 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 6th wicket. Two MI batsmen : Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard, the two mainstay of their team, were out for a duck.
Kishan remained unbeaten on 55 in 30 balls hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes while Hardika Pandya remained unbeaten on 37 in only 14 balls hitting 5 huge sixes ensuring MI reach a massive total. Hardik Pandya was severe on fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje hitting them for back to back sixes in 19th and 20 over respectively. It was a blitzkrieg.
