Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 34 run in the 17th match of IPL 2020 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, UAE, on October 4, 2020, night, with fast bowlers James Pattinson, Trent Boult, and Jasprit Bumrah, taking two wickets each while spinner Krunal Pandya took one wicket.

MI opener Quinton de Kock (Qdk) scored 67 in 39 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes. All-rounder Krunal Pandya hit 20 runs on last fours balls of 20th over bowled by fast bowler Siddharth Kaul hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. It was MI’s third win in five matches in IPL 2020. Electing to bat after winning the toss, MI scored 208/5 in 20 overs despite losing the wicket of opener Rohit Sharma (captain)  with only 6 runs on board. Rohit fell to fast bowler Sandeep Sharma on the fifth bowl of first over after hitting a six. But Qdk and Suryakumar Yadav then added 42 runs for the 2nd wicket. Suryakumar Yadav fell to Siddharth Kaul for 27 in 18 balls making it 48/2. Qdk fell to spinner Rashid Khan and it was 126/3. He added 78 runs with Ishan Kishan for third wicket.

Ishan Kishan fell to Sandeep Sharma for 31 in 23 balls hitting 1 fours and 2 sixes making it 147/4. Hardik Pandya fell to Kaul for 28 in 19 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes and it was 185/5. Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 25 in 13 balls hitting 3 sixes while Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 20 in 4 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Chasing a target of 209, SRH began well with its openers David Warner (captain) and Jonny Bairstow (wk) adding 34 runs for first wicket but then lost wickets at regular interval. Bairstow fell to Trent Boult for 25 in 15 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Manish Pandey fell to James Pattinson for 30 in 19 balls with 4 fours and a six. Warner and Pandey added 60 runs for 2nd wicket. Kane Williamson fell to Boult for 3 and it was 116/3. Priyam Garg fell to Krunal Pandya for 8 making it 130/4. Warner fell to Pattinson for 60 in 44 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes and it was 142/5. Abdul Samad fell to Bumrah for 20 in 9 balls hitting 1 four and 2 sixes and it was 168/6. Abhishekh Sharma fell to Bumrah for 10 and it was 172/7 in 18.5 overs.
