Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) beat KXIP Mumbai Indians (MI) by 3 runs in the 50th match of IPL 2018 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on May 16, 2018, night, riding on brilliant bowling by their pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan in the last three overs. KXIP opener Lokesh Rahul made an explosive 94 in 60 ball with 10 fours and 3 sixes but got out in the 19th over. MI has thus kept their hope of qualifying for the play offs alive. Bumrah took 3/15 in 4 overs while McClenaghan took 2/37 in 4 overs.

KXIP had won the toss but opted to bowl. Batting first, MI made 186/8 in 20 overs riding a 23 ball 50 with 5 fours and 3 sixes by Kieron Pollard and 32 with 2 sixes by Krunal Pandya. Captain Rohit Sharma was out for 6 while opener Suryakumar Yadav made 27 hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Ishan Kishan made 20 hitting 2 sixes.

In reply, KXIP made 183/5 in 20 overs. Aaron Finch made 46 in 35 ball hitting 3 fours and a six while Chris Gayle made 18 hitting 2 fours and a six.

MI have now 12 points from 13 matches. KXIP also have 12 points from 13 matches but lag behind MI in net run rate.
