Patna : Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 46 runs in the 44th match of IPL-12 at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 26, 2019, late night, with Lasith Malinga taking 4/37 in 3.4 overs,  Jasprit Bumrah  2/10 in 3 overs, and Krunal Pandya 2/7 in 3 overs. Replying to MI’s 155/4 in 20 overs, CSK led by Suresh Raina were all out for only 109 in 17.4 overs. CSK had won the toss but opted to bowl.  MI have now 14 points from 11 matches while CSK have 16 points from 12 matches. Delhi capital also have 14 points from 11 matches.

Chasing a target of 156, CSK lost their first four wickets for only 45 runs on board. Opener Murali Vijay top scored for CSK with 38 runs in 35 balls hitting 3 fours and a six. Opener Shane Watson fell to Malinga for 8 while Suresh Raina fell to Hardik Pandya for 2. Ambati Rayudu fell to spinner Krunal Pandya for a duck. Kedar Jadhav also fell to Krunal Pandya for 6. Dhruv Shorey fell to spinner Anukul Roy, who hails from Samastipur district in Bihar, for 5.

Dwayne Bravo fell to Malinga for 20. Mitchell Santner also fell to Malinga for 22 hitting 2 sixes. Malinga took two wickets in his 4th over.

Batting first, MI had scored 155/4 with captain Rohit Sharma scoring 67 in 48 balls hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes and Evin Lewis scoring 32 in 30 ball with 3 fours and a six. Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 23 hitting a four and six.
