Patna : Fourth seed Daniil Medvedev, 24, Russia, 5th seed Stefano Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, and 7th seed Andrey Rublev, 23, Russia, reached the 4th round of Australian Open (AO) 2021 on February 13, 2021. Medvedev though survived a five-set marathon in beating World No 33 Filip Krajinovic, 28, Serbia, at Melbourne Park, Australia.
Medvedev defeated 28th seed Filip Krajinovic in five-sets 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6, 6-0 in third round. The Russian won 7 break points in the match to 3 by Krajinovic. He also won 6 games in a row during the match to 3 by the Serbian. Medvedev, in all, won 144 points during the match to 128 by Krajinovic. The Russian also hammered 15 ces in the match to just 2by the Serbian.
Tsitsipas beat World No 95 Mikael Ymer, 22, Sweden, in straight sets 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 in 3rd round firing 8 Aces. The Greek won 7 break points during the match to 1 by Ymer. Tsitsipas won 6 games in a row in the match. The Greek, in all, won 87 points in the match to 55 by Ymer.
Rublev beat World No 65 Feliciano Lopez, 39, Spain, in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 in 3rd round winning 4 break points and 5 games in a row in the match. Rublev, in all, won 92 points in the match to 67 by Lopez. The Russian fired 12 Aces during the match to 11 by the Spainiard.
