Patna : Second seed Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, and 8th seed Casper Ruud, 22, Norway, won their respective Group stage match in three-sets at season-ending Nitto ATP Finals at Turin, Italy, on November 19, 2021. The two players will clash in the semi-final on November 20, 2021.
World No 2 Medvedev beat World No 11 Jannik sinner, 20, Italy, in a close three-set contest 6-0, 6-7, 7-6. Medvedev won the 3rd set tie-break 10-8. The Russian hammered 18 Aces during the match to 5 by Jannik Sinner, a replacement for injured World No 7 Matteo Berrettini, 25, Italy. He won 5 break points during the match to 2 by Sinner. Medvedev also won 6 games in a row during the match to 3 by the Italian. The Russian, however, also committed 5 double faults in the matchto 2 by Sinner.
World No 8 Ruud defeated 5th seed Andrey Rublev, 24, Russia, in three-sets 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 in 2hr 23 minutes rallying back from one set down. Both the players hammered 14 Aces each during the match. Both of them also committed 3 double faults each in the match. World No 5 Rublev though won 4 break points during the match to 3 by Ruud, who won the 3rd set tie-break. Rublev also won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by the Norwegian. Ruud, in all, won 98 points in the match to 110 points by Rublev.
