Patna : Top seed Daniil Medvedev, 23, Russia, demolished 4th seed Borna Coric, 22, Croatia, the World No 15, in the final to win the singles title at St Petersburg Open, an ATP World Tour 250 Points hard courts event, at St Petersburg, Russia, on September 22, 2019. Playing his fifth consecutive final of the year, Medvedev crushed Coric 6-3, 6-1 in 72 minutes in the final to win the title, his third of the season and 6th overall.
World No 4 Medvedev, who had lost to World No 2 Rafael Nadal in the finals of Rogers Cup and US Open recently, won 4 break points in the match besides winning 7 games in a row. Medvedev’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve (78% & 82%) was much higher than that of Coric (53% & 50 %). Coric, however, still leads Medvedev 4-2 Head to Head.
