Patna : World No 2 & 2nd seed Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, and World No 15 Felix Auger-Aliassime, 21, Canada, reached the men’s singles semi-finals of US Open at New York, USA.
Medvedev, the 2019 US Open and 2021 Australian Open finalit, beat World No 117 Botic van de Zandschulp, 25, Netherlands, in four-sets in quarter-final on September 7, 2021, late night, reach the semi-finals of US Open. Medvedev defeated qualifier Zandschulp 6-3, 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 in QF.
The Russian won 7 break points during the match to 2 by the Dutch. He also won 8 games in a row during the match to 3 by Zandschulp. Medvedev hammered 13 Aces during the match to 4 by the Dutch. Medvedev, in all, won 121 points to 92 by Zandschulp. Medvedev will face Aliassime in SF on September 11, 2021.
12th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime reached the semi-final on a walk over on September 8, 2021, early morning, as his quarter-final opponent & World No 55 Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, 18, Spain, retired in the 2nd set due to injury. Garfia was trailing 3-6, 1-3. This is Aliassime’s first Grand Slam SF.
