Medicine shop owner shot dead in Samastipur

Samastipur : Janardan Thakur, 58, who runs a medicine shop at Tajpur under Tajpur police station in Samastipur district, was shot dead by unidentified persons near river Jamuari at 9.30 pm on October 18, 2017, when he was returning home at village Asharhi on his bicycle after closing his medicine shop.

Confirming the incident, an official of Tajpur police station on October 19 night said that police were yet to arrest any criminal in this connection. He said the deceased’s family members were to lodge an FIR with police in this connection. Asharhi village is about 3 km away from Tajpur police station. The locals strongly protested the incident on October 19.

The officer incharge of Tajpur police station Manoj Kumar was suspended on October 19 for dereliction of duty with immediate effect.
