Saharsa : A three-member team, constituted by Saharsa Civil Surgeon to inquire into the death of a pregnant woman  Annu Bharti and her child at the drug store cum clinic of Yogendra Thakur, allegedly a quack, on April 5, 2017, on April 7, conducted raid at the drug store and detected several shortcomings in it. Annu Bharti was wife of Manoj Das, a resident of Ramphal tola located near Saharsa policeline.

The team headed by Assistant Drug Controller Birendra Prasad and comprising Drug Inspectors : Pankaj Kumar and Jitendra Kumar, found that the drug store did not meet specifications required to open a drug store. Birendra Prasad said that the drug store also did not maintain account. The team also inspected the clinic located inside the drug store. He said that the drug store does not have a pharmacist either. Prasad will submit his report to Civil Surgeon.

Surprisingly, Saharsa police has not taken the incident seriously and insist on a formal complaint by Manoj Das regarding death of his pregnant wife, who was in labour pain, at Thakur’s clinic during operation, to initiate any action. Manoj Das and other residents of Ramphal tola had raised an uproar outside the clinic after the death of Annu. The body was cremated without post-mortem. The residents of Ramphal tola allege that Thakur had now managed Manoj.
