Marin Cilic enters final of AO 2018

Patna : Number 6 seed Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, entered the final of Australian Open (AO) 2018 comfortably defeating World Number 49 Kyle Edmund, 23, UK, 6-2, 7-6, 6-2, in the semi-finals at Melbourne on January 25, 2018. It will Cilic’s first appearance in AO final. He had lost in the semi-finals in 2010.

Edmund was hampered a little bit due to injury. Cilic admitted after the match that Edmund’s movement was restricted due to injury. He predicted a bright future for Edmund, who had defeated World Number 3 Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals.

World Number 2 Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, will face Hyeon Chung, 21, South Korea, in the second semi-finals on January 26, 2018. Cilic, a 2014 US Open Champion, had lost to Federer in the final of  Wimbledon 2017.
