Patna: Farmers of Marhoura in Saran district will get an additional Rs 70 crore as compensation for the land acquired by the Railways for setting up of Diesel locomotive plant . Union Skill development minister Rajeev Pratap Rudy, who represents Saran parliamentary constituency in Lok Sabha, said the farmers were sanctioned compensation at an old rate of Land Acquisition Act under which they received Rs 21 crore – Rs 10 lakh for every acre. Now, they will get Rs 91 crore at the rate of Rs 40 lakh per acre under the Land Acqusition Act 2015.
The railways are investing Rs 3,000 crore for the establishment of Diesel locomotive manufacturing unit. The railways approved the arbitration award of commissioner of Saran division made on April 14, 2016. Rudy said the land losers would receive the compensation very soon as the fund was being released by Railway ministry to Saran DM.
