Maoists abduct two railways personnel in Munger

Munger : Armed Maoists numbering about 15 including women abducted two railways personnel including an Assistant Station Master (ASM) and a Porter from Maksudan railway station in Munger district and set afire the signalling control panel disrupting railway traffic in the wee hours on December 20, 2017.

Superintendent of Railways Police (SRP), Jamalpur, Shankar Jha, said that the Maoists, who had given a call for Bihar and Jharkhand bandh, attacked Maksudan railways station around midnight on December 19, and abducted ASM Mukesh Kumar and Porter Nirendra  Mandal, besides setting ablaze the signalling control panel. He said that Maksudan railway station is about 18 km away from Jamalpur in Munger district. Maksudanpur station comes after Abhaypur railway station, he said. SRP Jha said that police operation was on to rescue the two abductedc railways personnel.

The railway traffic was disrupted on Jamalpur-Kiul section for about an hour due to torching of the signalling panel. Movement of trains was restored after the fire was extinguished. Maoists had given a call for a 24-hour bandh across Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand to protest police operations against them.
