Banka : A Maoist Area Commander Mantoo Khaira, 35, was killed in a three hour encounter with police in Dahibar forests and mountain area under Anandpur police outpost under Chanan police station (PS) in Banka district early February 21, 2017, morning. Banka SP Rajiv Ranjan, who led the police and STF team, said that police seized an AK 47, two SLRs, several live cartridges, some Hand Grenades and naxal literature that from the place of encounter.
Replying to a query, the Banka SP said it appears some Maoists were also injured in the encounter as police detected several bloodstains at the place of occurrence. SP Rajiv Ranjan said that no cop was injured in the encounter. The SP said that police took on an entire Maoist squad during the encounter.
