Bhabhua : All the schemes related to MNREGA are going on at snail’s pace in Kaimur district. Even the labourers are not getting their wages regularly. The union government had launched MNREGA with a view to creating jobs for the unemployed at villages and for the development of villages and also for checking migration of farm labourers. The schemes worked satisfactorily during initial period but later this scheme became a victim of official apathy.
In Kaimur district, there are at least 3.21 lakh registered job card holder labourers but they are not getting job and so forced to migrate to other states. Wages of MNREGA labourers worth about Rs. 78.64 lakh for 2015-16 is pending with the government. They have now got tired of making round of offices though as per the provision of the MNREGA, the labourers have to be paid within 15 days.
At least 15,959 schemes were sanctioned from the financial year 2013-2014 of which 9,519 schemes have been completed while 6,440 schemes are still pending. The odfficials said that payment of wages will be made soon.
