Man stabbed to death in Patna for opposing illicit distillation

Patna : Chandan Kumar, 25, was stabbed to death at Phulwarisharif on the outskirts of the state capital on February 19, 2017. Chandan was opposing illicit distillation by some bootleggers in Phulwarisharif.   The
bootleggers attacked him with sharpedged weapons. He succumbed to his wounds on the spot.

Enraged over the incidents, local residents resorted to road blockade between Phulwarisharif and Khagaul resulting in suspension of vehicular traffic. They also set afire some shops in the area.  Senior SP, Patna, Manu Maharaaj removed the officer-in-charge of Phulwarisharif immediately and a new officer was posted in his place.
Dr C P Thakur, BJP MP, visited Phulwarisharif with Danapur MLA Asha Sinha and Kumhrar MLA Arun Kumar Sinha(both BJP) and demanded suspension Excise and police officials of the area. Dr Thakur alleged liquor was being sold clandestinely in the state.
