Patna: Patna Police on January 5 arrested a man posing as an IPS officer near Sachivalaya Chouraha when he was allegedly issuing directives to the cops engaged in movement of cavalcade of PM Narendra Modi. Modi had come to Patna to participate in Prakashotsav function at Gandhi Maidan.

Locals said that the arrested person was seen regulating the traffic on Bailey Road for the past two day by remaining in police enclosure. Police said that the arrested man has been kept in Shashtrinagar police station for interrogation. Police said that the youth identified himself as Mayank Mrinal Tripathi and he has passed his Class 10 from a reputed school in Digha locality.

Police said that Mayank’s father was associated with RBI, Patna, and his name is Vinod Kumar. Police said at present the arrested youth is residing at 402-Grand Chandra Apartment on Frazer Road and is a native of Darbhanga district. Some of his friends said that he preferred to remain alone. “ We took him as a mad cap due to his attitude,” said some of his friends.

Later, his father met police official and showed some medical prescriptions which indicated Mayan is mentally unsound. Police were verifying his medical history and take action accordingly. He was likely to be released.
