Ara : A married woman Reema Devi was burnt to death allegedly by her husband Mahavir Singh at village Songhatta  under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district in the wee hour on April 11, 2018, for protesting his extra marital affair.

Police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. After killing his wife, Mahavir Singh and his kin escaped from the village. A named FIR was lodged with Koelwar police station against Mahavir Singh and other in-laws of the deceased but no arrest has so far been made in this regard.

SHO, Koelwar police station, said that Reema Devi of village Nathmalpur was married to Mahavir Singh of village Songhatta about eight years ago. Mahavir Singh allegedly had  illicit relation with a woman of the village which Reema Devi always opposed but was thrashed by him. On April 10, 2018, night, when Mahavir returned home, Reema Devi once again objected to his extra-marital affair. At this, Mahavir lost his temper and sprinkled kerosene oil on her and burnt her to death.
