Buxar : A man killed his wife by slitting her throat and later committed suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling of a room of his house at village Kodarwa Buxar Muffassil police station in Buxar District in South Bihar on September 12, 2020, late night.

SHO, Buxar Muffassil police station, along with police force and the SDPO, Buxar, rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Later, police brought the bodies over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Shocked over the incident, the villagers demanded compensation to the next of kin of the couple besides a government job. The deceased were identified as Devdatta Paswan, 55, and his wife Naurasiya Devi, 50.

SHO, Buxar Muffassil police station, said that Devdutta Paswan and his wife Naurasiya Devi were sleeping in their room at Kodarwa village after taking meal. Suddenly, Devdutta Paswan woke up and slit throat of his wife Naurasiya Devi with a sharpedged weapon around September 12, 2020, midnight, and later hanged himself to the ceiling of the room. When they did not c0me out of their room on September 13, 2020, morning, their family members peeped through the window and saw body of Naurasiya Devi lying in a pool of blood and Devdutta Paswan hanging to the ceiling. The news spread like wild fire at the village and the villagers informed the police.

Satyendra Paswan, son of the deceased, said that his father was rendered jobless during lockdown and the family was financial problems due to it that caused sporadic tension.

SDPO, Buxar, Gorakh Ram,said that investigation is going on the basis of information received from the family members of the deceased and senior officials have also been informed about the incident.
