Ara : A man killed his wife by dashing her against a stone slab at village Dhanauti under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district in the wee hour on July 20, 2019, for not bearing a male child and escaped. Police arrested him from village Gulzarpur under Sahar police station and sent him to jail.

A named FIR was lodged with Charpokhari police station in this connection. Police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

SHO, Charpokhari police station, said that Nand Ji Musahar of village Dhanauti had some tiff with his wife Reena Devi alias Reema Devi on trivial issue. Infuriated, he thrashed her and tossed her on a stone slab and killed her. He also tried to attack his eldest daughter Rinki Kumari but she escaped from the house and saved herself somehow. The SHO said that Reena Devi had four daughters and so Nand Ji Musahar always tortured her for not bearing a male child. Brother of the deceased, Sanjay Kumar of village Pasaur under Charpokhari police station instituted a named FIR against Nand Ji Musahar alleging that he thrashed and later tossed his wife on a stone slab and killed her for not bearing a male child.
