Kanhaiya Rajbanshi, when contacted on his mobile phone, did not wish to comment on the issue and requested not to be dragged into it.
According to Rajauli police station SHO, Awdhesh Kumar, Vidya Sagar was staying
with his “bahnoi” (brother-in-law”). Here Vidya Sagar and Rina both contacted each other managed to sneak and attend the annual “Basant Panchmi” fair at nearby Saptarishi hills on January 22, 2018, evening, but, on their way back a group of people intercepted them in
the pitch dark and attacked unsuspecting Vidya Sagar. Rina, however, managed to escape and returned with additional help from the village. But before her husband could be rushed for treatment, he died on the way.
The SHO informed that Rina has named 9 persons in the FIR as accused. All the accused belong to her community and village. However, there were no external marks of injury on Vidya Sagar’s body and only the post- mortem report would reveal the cause of death, added the SHO.
