Sasaram: One Jawahar Pal, 25, was killed at his in-laws’ place at village Indaur under Dinara police station in Rohtas district. Police recovered the body from a pond on July 23, 2020, evening, and brought it over to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
A named FIR was lodged by Dinara police station against four persons including the wife of the deceased on the statement of Baban Pal, father of the deceased. Police also arrested the wife, father-in-law and mother-in-law of the deceased in this connection.
SHO, Dinara police station, Balmiki Prasad, said that Jawahar Pal, son of Baban Pal of Pahadi village under Kargahar police station in Rohtas district was married to Nilu Devi, daughter of Vijay Pal of Indaur village under Dinara police station two years ago, but his wife lived at her parents’ house sometime after the marriage. Jawahar Pal tried to bring her back but in vain.
About a month ago, Jawahar Pal went to his in-laws’ place for treatment and also to bring his wife back but he was strangulated to death there and the body was thrown into a pond. The villagers saw the body floating in the pond and informed police, who rushed to the spot and fished out the body. The SHO further said that foul smell was emitting from the body and the face was burnt as if acid was thrown on the face to deface it.
The SHO further said that since the marriage, Nilu Devi allegedly tortured her husband alleging he was impotent and deserted him after two months of marriage. Jawahar Pal’s in-laws detained him when he went there to bring his wife back on the pretext of treatment. Meanwhile, they spread rumour that Jawahar Pal was missing for the last three days and informed his parents.
