Patna : A young man Chandan Kumar hurled a sandal towards the dais where Bihar CM and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar was sitting with state JD(U) president Bashisth Narain Singh and other senior party leaders of the party during a ‘Chhatra Samagam’ programme at Bapu Sabhagar Auditorom, Patna, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Naraiin on October 11, 2018. The sandal, however, did not reach the dais and fell a few metres away from it in the gathering after which the JD(U) supporters punched and kicked the culprit, who was protesting the quota system. Police whisked him away. There was complete chaos at the function.
The CM had gone at Bapu Sabhagar to participate in the Chhatra Samagam organized by youth wing of the JD(U).
After inauguration of the function, the CM was sitting on dais. Suddenly, a man threw a sandal towards the dais though it fell metres away from it. Chandan also raised slogan against the CM. Complete silence prevailed after
the incident and those present there were shell-shocked. Police whisked him away to Gandhi Maidan police station.
SSP, Patna Manu Maharaaj also reached Gandhi Maidan police station.
Police sources said that the youth had been identified as Chandan Kumar, a resident of Aurangabad district. He is being interrogated, police added.
