Nawada: Tthe Nawada SP administered oath to policemen to abstain from liquor in life on Sunday at the policelines. It appeared to have a salutary effect on an unidentified person who, the same evening, dumped around 450 Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) sealed bottles at a bus stand in town and vanished. The ‘cache’ proved to be a windfall for the cops’ drive to rid the district of liquor and enforce prohibition. Several leading and influential business persons from across the border (Jharkhand) were nabbed in a sozzled condition after they failed the breath analyzer test near Rajauli’s Integrated Composite Checkpost. All were forwarded to judicial custody by the court.
According to Nawada SP, Vikas Dev Burman, several hundred IMFL sealed liquor bottles were found abandoned at town-based no. 3 bus depot. The original value of the liquor, valued at several thousand rupees, could escalate many fold in black market. The police expressed ‘gratefulness’ to the owner.
At Rajauli, during a routine check, several influential business persons from neighboring Giridih and Koderma region in Jharkhand were nabbed after they failed the breath analyzer test at the check post. Some of them were travelling in an SUV and included, the son of owner of Arhit Gas Agency, Satwinder Singh of Saluja Steel Company, Sirsendu Sen Gupta, a railway contractor and noted Cloth trader Amit Khandelwal. Besides, several persons from Nalanda district’s Noorsarai area were nabbed from a bus in a drunken state. They were returning after paying ‘obeisance’ at Rajrappa temple in Jharkhand.
