Sitamarhi: The incessant rains claimed a life in Sitamarhi district on August 12, 2017. Niraj Kumar, 25, a resident of village Majkothwa, drowned to death while crossing a flooded road
under Majorganj block in the district. The flood was caused by river Manusmara. The Majorganj block headquarters is also submersed.
Around a dozen villages have been surrounded by the water of river Lakhandei under Sonbarsa block while six villages are reeling in flood under Sursand block in the district. Every river including Bagmati is flowing above danger mark. There is little likelihood of immediate respite from rain in the district and as well as in the catchment areas of Nepal.

Meanwhile, the Sheohar-Sitamarhi road has been closed for traffic as three feet deep water of river Bagmati is flowing over the road near Dubba Ghat.
