Ara: Bhojpur police, on a tip off conducted raid at village Karisath under Gajrajganj police outpost on Wednesday and arrested Hari Om Singh, son of Baldeo Narain Singh, of the village and also recovered a rifle and 25 live cartridges from his possession. He was sent to jail after interrogation.

Gang busted : Bhojpur police busted a gang of  gamblers  and arrested 22 persons and also seized Rs 10 lakh from Rauza locality under Town police station on late Tuesday evening. The police released 19 of them after they signed bail bonds while the rest were forwarded to Ara jail. The jailed persons were identified as Gauri Shankar of Rauza locality in Ara, Arshad Ali of Khagaul in Patna district and Parvez of Phoorwarisharif in Patna district.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that he was tipped off that some kind of gambling was going on secretly in Rauza locality. He immediately formed a police team under Sadar SDPO Sanjay Kumar that conducted  raid at a house at Rauza locality under town police station and arrested 22 persons involved in the gambling. The police seized Rs. 10 lakh and lottery tickets in large number.
BHRC team vists Ara jail: A two-member committee of Bihar Human Rights Commission (BHRC) comprising  IG Awadhesh Sharma and  SP Vakil Ahamad visited Ara jail on Tuesday to inquire into the death of an undertrial prisoner, Ramadhar Chaudhary. Chaudhary was arrested in connection with murder of Champa Devi, mukhia, Belaur panchayat under Udwantnagar police station two year ago and was languishing in Ara jail. But, he died under mysterious circumtances a year ago. The family members of the deceased had complained to the BHRC in this regard.
