Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, on April 29, 2019, arrested Krishna Singh, son of Bhanu Singh of village Ekauna under Barhara police station in Bhojpur district from his house in connection with firing on the State JD(U) Vice-President Vishwanath Singh on April 27, 2019, night.

An injured Vishwanath Singh had lodged an FIR against four persons including two named: Krishna Singh and his brother Vikas Singh, in this connection. Property dispute was said to be the cause behind the incident. Police are conducting raids to arrest Vikas Singh and other two persons. Vikas Singh had unsuccessfully contested for the post of Mukhia in the last panchayat elections.

SHO, Ara Town police station, said that four persons including Krishna Singh and his brother Vikas Singh went to the residence of Vishwanath Singh in Gausganj locality near Glass Factory under Ara Town police station around 9 pm on April 27, 2019, and called him out of the house. As he came out, they fired on him and escaped. He was rushed to a private clinic at Babu Bazaar where the doctor took out the bullets from his body. The SHO said that Vishwanath Singh is a resident of Lauhar-Farana village under Barhara police station and had some property enmity with the miscreants.

The SHO said that Vishwanath Singh was living at the house of Kedar Singh  in Gausganj locality as a tenant with his family members since 2003. After the murder of Kedar Singh in 2007, his wife Neelam Devi wanted to sale the house and had even taken Rs. 6 lakh from Vishwanath Singh but she did not register the house in his name and also did not return his money. Later, she sold out the house to Nand Gopal Singh, brother of Vikas Singh of Ekauna village under Barhara police station, the SHO said. About one and half a year ago, Nand Gopal Singh filed a case in an Ara Court against Vishwanath Singh.
