Mishra lodged an FIR with Kamtaul police station on May 26 last and SSP Darbhanga constituted a police team headed by ASP Dilnawaz Ahmad for conducting investigation. During investigation, it was found that the mobile was used only once for demanding money and after that the sim was destroyed. ASP Ahmad said that arrest of Punendu and quizzing revealed that complainant Mishra  had  five nieces and no nephew and his only brother died  years ago. Mishra took one of his nieces in confidence and asked her to sell one bigha of her land by registering her land in the name of his son on payment of Rs ten lakh. She transferred the ownership to her cousin in the registry office and Mishra acted as witness during transfer of land.  Mishra paid only Rs one lakh to her niece and no further payment was made even after repeated demands. Then husband of the niece-cum nephew-in-law of Mishra, Punendu Kumar, purchased a mobile and threatened his uncle-in-law Mishra posing himself as Chunnu Thakur demanding Rs 15 lakh. This mobile was used for making the threatening call only. The sim was destroyed  by Kumar but the mobile set was recovered by the police. ASP presented Kumar before mediamen at Laheriasarai PS on Friday and he narrated his actions and termed his uncle-in-law a dishonest person who did not pay his wife even after transfer the ownership of the land to his son.
