Hajipur : Circle Officer (CO), Mahnar, in Vaishali district, Choudhary Ram recently lodged an FIR with Mahnar police station alleging 0that Sarvendra Kumar Rai, mukhiya of Lavapur Mahnar panchayat, had threatened to eliminate him besides regularly pressurizing while performing his duty.
Talking to this scribe on cellphone, the CO said that Sarvendra had submitted him a list carrying the names of 138 flood victims. He said that the mukhiya was pressurizing him to get the cheques cleared immediately. The CO said that he told the mukhiya that he had sent the papers to a local bank for clearance. He said that mukhiya, after two months, again submitted him another list carrying the names of 123 persons. The mukhiya again handed him over a list containing the names of 916 persons, the CO said adding that mukhiya used to reach circle office regularly and pressurized him to clear the cheques.
The CO said that on December 7, the mukhiya again reached his office and asked him to clear the names of all the flood affected people of his panchayat. “I told him that I have sent the papers to SDO for his guidelines,” the CO said, alleging that mukhiya after some days came to his office and threatened to kill him and dump his body into river Ganga. The CO said that he lodged a complaint against the mukhiya with the Mahanar police station, the copies of which was also forwarded to vaishali DM and SP.
When contacted, Mahnar ps SHO Abhai Kumar said that the CO lodged a complaint on December 11 against the mukhiya. He said that investigation was on into the allegations.
