Bagaha : Hilly rivers like Gandak, Masan, Bhapsa, Manor, Haraha, Kosil, Kapan, Kaurena, Harbors, Oriya, Manihari, Shikarahna, Bhaluhi and others which originate from higher reaches of the Himalayas in Nepal and Swameshwar hill are in spate. The link roads, which lead to Done villages under Ramnagar block in West Champaran district, have become inaccessible due to heavy rain in the catchment areas of the rivers.

SDM, Bagaha, Dharmendra Kumar, said that Gudguddi panchayat under Ramnagar block was  affected by a swollen Masan river while Raibari Muhuyawa and Salaha Bariarawa panchayats were facing serious threat of erosion from the river.

According to a report reaching here from Valmikinagar Gandak project. the Gandak barrage released 1.24 lakh cusec water in the river on August 12, 2017, noon, inundating about one lakh hectares of low lying area under Shidhav, Bagaha, Piparasi, Madhubani, Bhitaha,Thakaraha, Jogapatti, Bairia and Nautan blocks of the district. Flood water has entered Rajahi, Rajahawa, Kati tola, Bhaisahiya, Sisahi, Madarahawa, Sohagibarawa, Rewahiya, Nainaha, Pakhanaha, Ramana, Motitola and Shrinagar panchayat in Gandak reverine area. No arrangement of countryboats for flood victims has been made by the district administration. Only those having their own country boats are able to move out, claimed RJD leader Lalam Yadav.

Pipari-Pipara right Gandak protection embankment on Bihar-UP border is posing serious threat to the embankment at many points. Mirajatola and Ramdham locality under Bagaha Nagar Parishad  are also facing threat of erosion by river Gandak though anti-erosion work is being carried out on war footing to save Bagaha town.
