Lopez stuns Aliassime to reach final of Queen’ Club Championship

Gurugram ( Haryana) : World No 113 Feliciano Lopez, 37, Spain, upset World No 21 Felix Auger Aliassime, 18, Canada, a fast rising tennis player, in a three-set thriller in the semi-finals of Queen’s Club Championships, London, also known as Fever-Tree Championships, on June 22, 2019, late night. Aliassime had defeated World No 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, in the quarter-finals in straight sets.

Lopez beat Aliassime 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 in 2hr 16 minutes coming from behind to enter the final of the tournament. He will face World No 38 Gilles Simon, 34, France, in the final at 6 pm on June 23, 2019. Simon upset World No 13 Deniil Medvedev, 23, Russia, in the semi-finals.

Aliassime hammaered 25 Aces in the match to 15 by Lopez. Lopez, however, won 2 break points in the match besides winning 3 games in a row. The Spaniard won 76 service points to 63 by Aliassime.
