Lohani felicitates Trackman for averting major accident

New Delhi : Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board, felicitated Balwant, Trackman, Ratlam Division, Western Railway, at Rail Bhavan on July 5, 2018. Balwant averted a serious accident by noticing the collapsed ballast retainer of the bridge between handla and Bajrang Garh stations under Ratlam Division.

To boost Balwant’s morale and as a token of appreciation, he has been awarded with commendation certificate & cash award of Rs 5,000. He and his family have been given first AC travel pass and AC accommodation in New Delhi.

On July 1, 2018 at about 7 pm, Trackman Balwant was returning back to his HQs after finishing days work. He noticed that ballast retainer of Bridge no.178 (18.3mtr span) between Thandla and Bajrang Garh stations has collapsed. He immediately protected the track and informed his superior, Senior Section Engineer/Pathway.  Necessary steps were taken for restoring the bridge on priority basis. Due to the alertness and promptness shown by Balwant a serious accident was averted, according to a PIB release.
