Patna : Loh Kean Yew, 24, Singapore, is the new BWF World Champion making history. World No 22 Loh Kean Yew defeated 12th seed Kidambi Srikanth, 28, India, in straight games in men’s singles final at Heulva, Spain, on December 19, 2021, win the TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2021 title. Yew clinched the gold medal for winning the title while Srikanth won the silver medal.
Loh Kean Yew beat World No 14 Kidambi Srikanth 21-15, 22-20 in final 43 minutes to win his maiden World hampionships trophy.Yew won 43 rallies during the match to 35 by Srikanyth, a former World No 1. Yew won 6 consecutive points during the match to 8 by the Indian. Yew created 4 game point opportunities converting two of them to none by Srikanth. GThe two players are now locked 1-1 Head to Head. Yew had defeated World No 3 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, in semi-final.
