Ara : Some unidentified persons shot at and injured the Bhojpur district secretary of  Lok Janshakti Party (LJP)  Munnu Singh in Maharana Pratap Nagar locality under Nawada police station, Ara,  late April 27, 2017, evening and escaped.

Police brought an injured Munnu Singh to Ara Sadar Hospital where the doctor referred him to Patna Medical College and Hospital in view of his critical condition. Old enmity is said to be the cause behind the incident. An FIR has been lodged with Nawada police station but no arrest has so far been made in this regard. Police seized two live rounds and six blank cartridges from the spot.

SHO, Nawada Police Station, Neyaz Ahmad, said Munnu Singh, 40, son of Baban Singh of village Baligaon under Ayar police station lived in Maharana Pratap colony under Nawada police station. On April 27 late evening, five unidentified armed persons with their faces covered and riding two motorcycles attacked a shop where Munnu Singh was sitting and started firing indiscriminately on him. Munnu Singh received two bullets in his stomach. Hearing the sound of firing, people rushed to the spot and started pelting the unidentified criminals with stones who escaped from the spot firing in the air.

SDPO Sanjay Kumar said that Yogesh Singh, son of Jai Kishore Singh of village Mahuli under Ara Muffassil Police Station, was shot at and injured at Sankat Mochan colony under Nawada police station on March 23, 2017,  and a named FIR was lodged with Nawada police station against Munnu Singh, Vishwanath Singh, Ravi Singh and Ran Vijay Singh on the statement of Jai Kishore Singh. Ran Vijay Singh and Ravi Singh are in Ara jail. The incident is said to be a retaliatory action. Tension prevails in and around the area following the incident though the SDPO said that the situation in under control.
