Saharsa : LJP MP from Khagaria Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Qaiser, in a letter addressed to PM Narendra Modi on March 1, 2017, has informed him that the construction of a bridge over river Kosi at Dhengrahi Ghat was very necessary in public interest. He has also referred to the indefinite fast of Babulal Maurya since February 19, 2017, to press the demand for construction of the bridge over river Kosi at Dhengrahighat in Saharsa district. Qaiser has informed the PM that several other persons including women have also joined the indefinite fast of Maurya.

Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Prem Kumar too has supported the demand for construction of Mahasetu at Dhengrahighat. He spoke to Maurya on phone on February 28, 2017. Former deputy chairman Saharsa Zila Parishad Ritesh Ranjan and former Zila Parishad member Pravin Anand, who too have joined the indefinite fast, said that the condition on women sitting on fast was not good.
