Patna : Twice Olympic and five time World Champion Lin Dan, 34, China, won the New Zealand Open Badminton, a Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 300 event, singles title on May 6, 2018, at Auckland defeating World Number 13 Jonatan Christie, Jakarta, Indonesia, in the final.
Top seed Lin Dan, also known as ‘Super Dan’, defeated Christie, the second seed, 21-14, 21-19, in the final to secure 7,000 points. Christie, 20, who had defeated World No 15 B Sai Praneeth, India, in the semi-finals, secured 5,950 points. Lin Dan is six time All England Badmintion champion and has won 64 career titles.
