Patna : World No 6 in Badminton World Feration (BWF) rankings Lee Chong Wei, 35, Malaysia, beat World No 11 Kento Momota, Japan, 21-17, 23-21, in 71 minutes in the final to lift the Malaysia Open men’s singles title on July 31. Lee is triple Olympic silver medalist.
In the women’s section, World No 1 and top seed Tai Rzu Ying, Chinese Taipei, defeated World No 7 HE Bingjiao, China, 22-20, 21-11, in 35 minutes in the final to win the Malaysia Open women’s singles title on July 1. Defendin Champion Tai Tzu Ying thus retained her title.
