Patna : World Number 3 P V Sindhu, 22, India, lost to World Number 1 Tai Tzu Ying, Chinese Taipei, in straight games 18-21, 18-21 in the final of Hongkong Open Super Series Badminton at Kowloon, Hongkong, on November 26, 2017. Ying now lead Sindhu 8-3 head to head. Sindhu had won two titles in 2017 in India and S Korea. Ying won her fifth Super Series title in 2017.
In the Men’s section, World Number 6 Lee Chong Wei, Malaysia, defeated World NUmber 4 Chen Long, China, 21-14, 21-19 in 46 minutes in the final to win the Hongkong Open Super Series title for the fifth time. Both the players were meeting for the first time in atournament in 2017. Lee Long Weo had not won a title for the last 8 months. He had won All England title in March 2017. Chen long had defeated Lee Chong Wei in Rio de Janeiro Oympics in Brazil in 2016.
