Buxar : Devdhari Rai of Babu ke Osaiya village under Marhaura police station in Saran district, who had escaped from  Buxar Central Jail with four other convicts on December 30, 2016, midnight but was arrested from Saran on January2, 2017, has spilled beans on the planning of the five prisoners. He also raised finger at the jail administration.

Devdhari Rai was awarded rigorous life imprisonment for outraging modesty of a six year old girl 2009. He said that father of the girl was accused of stealing of bicycle and was eyeing at the land of his maternal grand-father and so implicated him in false rape case. He said he along with his family members shifted to Babu ke Osaiya village under Marhaura police station though his paternal house is at Sondha village under Muffassil police station, Chhapra.

During interrogation, Devdhari Rai said that Sonu Pandey of Ara, Upendra Sah of Chhapara, Pradeep Singh of Motihari and Sonu Singh of Brahmpur in Buxar had planned to escape from the jail with the help of some police personnel and officials of Buxar Central Jail. Pradeep Singh of Motihari was awarded capital punishment while the rest four were undergoing rigorous life imprisonment. He said they feigned illness and were admitted to the medical ward.

After their escape from the jail, they reached Balia where they split into two groups. He and Pradeep Singh went to Motihari while the other three went to Rohtas. After spending two days in Motihari, he reached Chhapra and  Pradeep left for an unknown destination. Devdhari said that he had house at Sandha village and was talking to some villagers when police arrested him. He said that no one dares dent tight security in Buxar Central Jail where a sentinel can resort to firing. But the police personnel did not do so facilitating their escape from the  jail. Devdhari alleged that he would be killed if he was sent back to Buxar Central Jail and appealed the police to send him to another jail.

Devdhari said that he had spent nine years in Motihari and Buxar Central jails and added that he was not paid for work done jail in the Buxar Central Jail where he worked as  cook.
