Motihari : East Champaran police are yet to arrest 15 members of a land mafaia who assaulted three brothers at their shop at village Banjaria with blunt objects on December 21, 2020, to capture their small piece of land to facilitate sale of their own plot. Police registered FIR against land mafia following intervention by a senior police official of the district.

Sheo Chandra  Padit and his two brothers: Ravindra and Raman, were brutally assaulted with lathi and blunt  objects at their shop by a gang of  land mafia on December 21, 2020,  at village Banjariya under Banjaria police station near Motihari, headquarters of East Champaran Disytrict in North Bihar, in which Sheo Chandra Padit sustained hand fracture. Bachchan Padit, father of  victims, said the land mafias had tried to capture his land several times in the past and finally attacked his sons on December 21 to kill them.

Around 15 persons attacked the shop at 8 am  and assaulted Ravindra, Sheo Chandra, and Raman, and looted their  shop. They also damaged a Scorpio car parked near the shop for washing. The injured persons rushed to the  near by Banjaria police station but there was none to listen to them. The SHO  and other officer reached the police station at 11 am  and registered the FIR. DSP, Motihari, Arun kumar Gupta  said  police are investigating the case. The SP  and DSP Ssadar were informed by the injured persons on phone but in vain.

Several villagers, who reached the police station, alleged that land mafia attacked the three brothers in connivance with police. They said a gang of land mafia is active in this area allegedly with tacit police support.
