Lalu’s family used co-operative bank as milch cow : SuMo

Patna : Bihar Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi ( SuMo) on May 24, 2018, alleged that Bihar Awami Cooperative Bank served as a milch cow for RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s family. The CBI had on May 23, 2018, quizzed former Bihar CM Rabri Devi in connection with an alleged money laundering case involving a cooperative bank,

SuMo also alleged that the Bihar Awami Cooperative Bank, headed by Lalu’s confidante Anwar Ahmed, was a channel through which the RJD supremo and other RJD leaders converted their black money into white.

It is now clear as to why Rabri Devi and her son and leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Yadav had been speaking so vociferously against PM Narendra Modi’s demonetization drive, said SuMo in a statement. Tejaswi was the Deputy CM when old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were junked in November, 2018.

Modi also asked Tejaswi to tell the people of Bihar why Rabri Devi deposited a huge amount in old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 in the cooperative bank shortly soon after demonetisation.
Bihar Awami Cooperative Bankbank is facing probe as Rs 70.46 lakh were deposited in old currency through 41 fake accounts. “Anwar Ahmed’s son Arshad Ahmed, who is one of the directors of the bank, and S Chatterjee, principal of a school run by them, have been arrested,” Modi asserted.
